Good news! The rules for counting denominations of 100 are the same as the rules for denominations of 10. And, it's even easier because they are the same in both Sino and Native Korean!
- Number 1-9 + '백' (100)
- "오" (5) + "백" (100) = "오백" (500)
- "팔" (8) + "백" (100) = "팔백" (800)
To count the numbers in between denominations of 10, just follow this simple rule:
- Denomination of 10 + Number 1-9, for example:
- Sino-Korean: "삼십" (30) + "삼" (3) = "삼십삼" (33)
- Native-Korean: "아흔" (90)" + "아홉" (9) = "아흔아홉" (99)
Putting these 2 rules together, we can now count up to 999!
- Denomination of 100 + Denomination of 10 + Number 1-9
- Sino-Korean: "오백" (500) + "육십" (60) + "이" (2) = 562
- Native-Korean: "칠백" (700) + "일흔" (70) + "일곱" (7) = 777
