How old are you? Oh no, but I only know the numbers up to 10! Well, don't worry because we've got you covered! In this lesson, you'll learn how to count up in 10s, all the way to 100!

A Bit of a Lesson

I know it's getting tedious but stick with it - it gets better, I promise! Remember, we will focus on memorizing these numbers for now. The applications will come in later!

Number Sino-Korean Native-Korean
10 십 (Sib) 열 (Yeol)
20 이십 (Ee-sib) 스물 (스무) (Seu-mul)
30 삼십 (Sam-sib) 서른 (Seo-reun)
40 사십 (Sa-sib) 마흔 (Ma-heun)
50 오십 (O-sib) 쉰 (Shin)
60 육십 (Yuk-sib) 예순 (Ye-sun)
70 칠십 (Chil-sib) 일흔 (Il-heun)
80 팔십 (Pal-sib) 여든 (Yeo-deun)
90 구십 (Gu-sib) 아흔 (A-heun)
100 백 (Baek)

Did you notice something interesting about the Sino-Korean numbers? They follow a simple pattern! Just add the number 1-9 to the word for "ten", and voila! You have a denomination of 10.

For instance, "삼" (3) + "십" (10) = "삼십" (30).

It's that easy!

Here are the recordings for each of the number systems. Listen carefully and try reading along with us!
